Hudson Valley Suspended License Attorney
In order to crack down on traffic offenders whose violations mount over time, an additional fine — known as a driver's responsibility assessment — is imposed on motorists. If you have been arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI), it is important to understand what this means for you and have an experienced attorney protecting your rights.
At Silver, Forrester & Lesser, P.C., in New Windsor, we have been defending clients against drunk driving charges for nearly 50 years in the Hudson Valley region, Orange County area, the Catskills Region and in New York City. To discuss your case with an experienced defense lawyer from our firm, call us at 845.764.4757 or toll free at 866.687.1338.
Driver's Responsibility Assessments in DWI Cases
In a DWI case, the driver will have to pay a driver's responsibility assessment of $750, which can be paid in installments if necessary. The cost of this assessment is in addition to any other fines that are issues in relation to your DWI charges, not in place of them. Even on a first offense, a DWI conviction can be very expensive.
In addition to the costs of fines, you face other inconveniences such as the installation of an ignition interlock device on your vehicle and attending DWI classes. We have extensive experience handing DWI defense and will do everything in our power to minimize the inconvenience — both to your time and to your finances — that you face as a result of the charges against you.
